CARD MRI bloodletting project raises 14 bags of blood

FOURTEEN bags of blood were collected during the bloodletting project led by CARD MRI in partnership with Philippine National Red Cross (PNRC) on May 30, 2015 at the main office of CARD MRI in San Pablo City.

Bloodletting has been a regular effort of CARD MRI every six months in support to PNRC’s advocacy. “This also underlines the thrust of CARD MRI to provide assistance to all our members and staff when they need blood transfusion,” shared Marilyn Manila, director of CARD MRI’s Community Development Group.

Blood donors are staff and clients of CARD MRI. “Many people came to donate but were not qualified due to high blood pressure and others. This, however, is a good indicator how responsive San Pableños are when it comes to blood donation,” said Rosemarie Anne Montiel, nurse phlebotomist of Red Cross San Pablo Chapter.

According to Montiel, they keep on tapping organizations to conduct bloodletting activity to generate and serve more blood to the communities and nearby towns. Red Cross SPC chapter also thanked CARD MRI for doing this project regularly.

“My father was in need of blood that time and it’s hard for us to find donors. I volunteered myself. From then on, I have been a regular donor”, recalled Ariel De Villa, a galloneer and a staff of CARD MRI.

Manila also added that for every blood we donate, we let someone experience another chance to live. A bag of blood is equivalent to 450 cc of blood, which is enough to save three lives according to the blood facts and statistics by the American Red Cross.

This is the third leg of bloodletting activity of CARD MRI since November 2013 and successfully generated and turned over a total of 66 bags of blood to PNRC.

CARD MRI is set to have its fourth bloodletting activity in December this year.
