CARD Bank’s fun run for a brighter tomorrow

CARD Bank, Inc., a microfinance-oriented rural bank, held its first fun run to engage the students, their family and the community in a recreational and educational activity before the classes open. The Maagap Fun Run 2015, with the theme “Takbo tungo sa magandang simula ng matagumpay na bata”   happened last May 23, 2015 in SM City San Pablo. The fun run aims to encourage the participants, mainly children, to start saving.

Dolores M. Torres, the President and CEO of CARD Bank, Inc., stressed the importance of having the value of savings especially to our youth. “Our children today will walk on where we are today. We must prepare them for a better and brighter future through educating them on the importance of savings. Let’s help our children be financially prepared,” shared by the president.

A financial literacy seminar was also held for all participants. “The fun run will be a venue not only for family bonding but for developing a savings habit of children as well,” said Mrs. Torres. Participants in the 3K family run were given a “CARDEE” cash that can be used to purchase thirst quenching products. Parents and/or guardians can let their children make their own   decision in spending the “CARDEE” cash. “The plan is to give children a lesson of learning to distinguish their needs and wants. Parents are working hard to give you [children] a bright future. We should know how to spend it wisely,” said by Guada May Brion, the Marketing Manager of CARD Bank, Inc. Children who did not spend the “CARDEE” cash were given prices for saving it.

It is an exclusive membership club for Maagap Savings account holders. It’s a kids club that aims to promote savings consciousness and improve the Maagap saver’s habit of savings. It also serves as a venue to develop their financial management skills and eventually address the issue on the excessive spending habit of children.
