Empowering social development workers

To continue to reinforce its Shari’ah-inspired microfinance program – Paglambo Project – in Mindanao, CARD Mutually Reinforcing Institutions (CARD MRI) is set to schedule more exchange program opportunities on Shari’ah financing and entrepreneurship in 2019 together with Dompet Dhuafa. The planned collaboration is a result of a meeting between CARD MRI Founder and Chair Emeritus Dr. Jaime Aristotle B. Alip and Dompet Dhuafa Founder Parni Hadi and management in Jakarta, Indonesia on December 19, 2018. Prior to the implementation of Paglambo Project in February this year, CARD’s team has been learning the principles of Shari’ah financing with Dompet Dhuafa through Ramon Magsaysay Awards Foundation (RMAF) and Peace and Equity Foundation (PEF). CARD MRI is a group of 21 development-oriented institutions that aims to eradicate poverty in the Philippines. Likewise, Dompet Dhuafa is one of Indonesia’s largest charitable organization that transforms traditional zakat (charity) to empowerment so the poor could move from being dependent recipients of alms towards becoming wealth creators. CARD MRI and Dompet Dhuafa are both recipients of Ramon Magsaysay Award in 2008 and 2016, respectively. In the left photo are: Parni Hadi and Dr. Jaime Aristotle B. Alip.
