From small to big dreams

Teresita Panal, 58, from Bunawan, Agusan del Sur started a small carenderia in the old market in the 1980’s. An expansion opportunity came when her dishes started to entice the Agusan taste. Additional capital, however, is needed. So in 2010, she joined Center for Agriculture and Rural Development (CARD), Inc. (A Microfinance NGO), an institution that offers microloans to support the livelihood activities of the socioeconomically challenged women and families. Starting with PHP4,000 loan, her loanable amount grew to PHP30,000 that she uses for renovation and expansion. Her carenderia turned into a spacious food establishment called “Family Kitchen”. At present, Teresita earns very well that her six children are all degree holders now. Aside from managing her own business, taking care of her grandchildren makes her busy. According to her, CARD has been a great part of her growth, not only in business but in every aspect of her life.
