Rizal Bank opens branch in Isabela

Rizal Bank, Inc. (RBI), a microfinance-oriented rural bank of CARD Mutually Reinforcing Institutions (CARD MRI), opened its 18th branch in Cauayan City, Isabela on May 21, 2018. The expansion of the bank is part of its commitment to eradicate poverty in the country.

“Unless there will be no family that is considered poor here in Cauayan, we will not stop helping this community to improve and develop,” said Elma Valenzuela, president and CEO of RBI. As well, the President and CEO stressed out that the CARD MRI program “One family, One graduate” through the scholarship program as well as the provision of educational loans for sons and daughters of qualified members, each family should have atleast one graduate.

Valenzuela also emphasized that the bank aims to build a sustainable financial institution that is owned and controlled by landless, rural women by providing them access to financial and non-financial services.

To date, RBI has more than 285,000 clients covering the areas of  Rizal, Bulacan, Zambales, Negros Oriental, Pampanga, Taguig, Cebu, Nueva Vizcaya, Siquijor, Ormoc and Isabela with 99.56% repayment rate.

Moreover, the CARD MRI Managing Director Flordeliza L. Sarmiento graced the event and expressed her gratitude to the people who took part in the celebration worth celebrated.

“CARD MRI is on its way to realizing the 5-8-40 strategy. We are unstoppably going there [poverty eradication] and RBI is actively taking part in it,” said Flordeliza Sarmiento. The 5-8-40 strategic direction of CARD MRI aims to reach eight million clients and insure 40 million individuals in five years starting 2016.

As of April 2018, CARD MRI is reaching more than five million clients and insures more than 16 million Filipinos nationwide. Rizal Bank, Inc. (RBI) is one of the banking institutions of CARD MRI.
