The CARD-MRI Development Institute, Inc. (CMDI) and Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) has forged a partnership that aims to produce more financially sound micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).

With the signing of a memorandum of agreement during PICPA’s 72nd Annual National Convention held at the Philippine International Convention Center, Manila on November 23, 2017, the organization will offer Training of Trainers (ToT) to CMDI to provide methodologies and new technologies in the field of financial management.

The partnership aims to advance the financial position of the economically challenged families by providing them capacity building programs to strengthen their financial management capabilities in the field of accounting, bookkeeping, financial statements, and financial ratios. This is to further develop and support micro-entrepreneurs to become successful MSMEs.

CMDI is a member institution of CARD Mutually Reinforcing Institutions (CARD MRI) that aims to bring positive change to the economic and social status of its clients through education and capacity building programs.  Meanwhile, PICPA is an organization of certified public accountants in the country that promotes, upholds, and maintains high standards in the accountancy profession.

“CMDI is determined to increase the business and entrepreneurial skills of the 4.8 million clients of CARD MRI nationwide,” said CMDI President Flordeliza Sarmiento.

Sarmiento shared that giving entrepreneurs access to financial management skills and trainings in addition to loans for business capital, will further capacitate MSMEs to develop, grow, and expand their own enterprise.

“With the help of PICPA, we are optimistic on the strong result of this endeavor. We always consider the changing needs of our clients and we always look for ways on how we could address it,” said CARD MRI Founder and CMDI Chairman Dr. Jaime Aristotle Alip.
