CARD Mutually Reinforcing Institutions (CARD MRI), through its CARD MRI Disaster Relief Assistance Program (CDRAP), extended assistance to its affected members in the National Capital Region, Central Luzon, and Southern Luzon due the heavy rainfall as typhoon “Lannie” and tropical depression “Maring” that both entered the Philippines Area of Responsibility (PAR) on September 11, 2017.

A total of 12,210 affected clients across 65 units of different institutions of CARD MRI were recorded to be affected in Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon. There were reported flash floods in Calamba, Bay and Victoria in the province of Laguna, Lopez, Pitogo and Atimonan in Quezon Province and in Batangas.

“Very rarely that we encounter a typhoon and a tropical depression entering the PAR at the same time. Because of this, we doubled our efforts to respond faster to the immediate needs of our clients. The morning after the typhoon has subsided, we have visited and distributed relief packs,” said Marilyn M. Manila, Head of CARD MRI’s Disaster Management Team.

CDRAP is an additional service of CARD Mutual Benefit Association, Inc. (CARD MBA) a member institution of CARD MRI, which provides immediate relief and assistance to affected CARD members and clients in disaster-affected areas. The CDRAP packs contains food for three days and a medicine pack, which can provide initial help to the affected members and clients of CARD MRI.

Upholding the core value of family spirit, CARD MBA initiated the CDRAP program to send immediate help to CARD MRI clients in times of disaster since 2006. CARD MRI, together with its 21 member institutions, will continue to be responsive to the needs of its members especially in difficult circumstances.
