Bringing health services closer to the communities

The Microfinance and Health Protection (MaHP) Program of CARD Mutually Reinforcing Institutions (CARD MRI) recently conducted its regular community clinic in Basak, Bontores, Cebu City. The community clinic is a team-up of CARD MRI’s retainer physician and nurse where general consultation is provided to its members. The said effort is part of CARD MRI’s ways to reach clients especially those who cannot afford to go to health facilities due to various reasons. Nanay Leonida Tomaqui (left), CARD client in Cebu for seven years, thanked the organization’s initiative. “This serves as my support system in monitoring my diabetes and high blood. I also keep asking my Account Officer the schedule of the clinic so I would not missed it,” Nanay Leonida said. To date, CARD MRI already reached 1,026 Cebuanos this year during its community clinics. Nationwide, the community clinic program benefitted to more than 27,500 microfinance clients and their dependents.
