CARD Bank opens its 8th branch in Mindanao

CARD Bank, Inc., a microfinance-oriented rural bank and a member institution of CARD Mutually Reinforcing Institutions (CARD MRI), a socio-development organization, expands its banking services to more families as it opens its 79th branch.

The Kidapawan City, North Cotabato branch is the 8th in Mindanao. CARD Bank opened its first Mindanao branch in Magallanes, Davao City in October 2007.  Additional branches were also inaugurated in Tagum and Malalag in Davao del Norte, Mati, Davao Oriental, Buhangin, Matina in Davao City and recently in Kabacan, North Cotabato. It plans to open three more branches in Nabunturan, Midsayap, and Malita in Mindanao in the first quarter of 2017.

“CARD MRI provides more than just financial services. We also have programs on health, livelihood, and education. We also co-invested in a hospital in Tayabas, Quezon,” Marivic Austria, CARD Bank president and CEO, said during the opening. “We are expanding because we want to reach more Filipinos and provide them the services that they need,” she added. Furthermore, CARD MBA, the insurance arm of CARD MRI is doing partnership with different memorial institutions to provide memorial plans for member-borrowers.

The executive and management committees of CARD Bank and other institutions of CARD MRI as well as its members from Kidapawan attended the bank opening.

As of December 2016, CARD Bank is serving almost 2-Million clients nationwide. It is also a BSP hall of fame awardee for financial inclusion.
