CMDI, DOST 4A collaboration to improve the competence of Filipino micro-entrepreneurs

The CARD-MRI Development Institute (CMDI), Inc., the training institute of CARD Mutually Reinforcing Institutions (CARD MRI), recently inked a memorandum of understanding with the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Region 4A to improve the economic status of the CARD MRI clients. Through their joint efforts, the partnership is expected to improve the competitiveness of the Filipino micro-entrepreneurs (MEs) in the region.

In this partnership, CARD MRI MEs will receive better livelihood, enterprise development, and product development training using the latest technology developed by the DOST. The said agency will also be providing the best practices and technology in the further improvement of the CARD MRI clients’ enterprises.

DOST can help CARD MEs who are mostly engaged in the business of food processing, in terms of testing of products for faster licensing with Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

In the speech of DOST Regional Director Dr. Alexander Madrigal during the signing ceremony, he believes that the partnership should be brought to the national level.  “CARD MRI is a magnet of the people, impacts lives of people especially the entrepreneurs. Like a resonance, it reads what the people needs. CARD MRI also provides good image of a true Filipino that values education,” said Dr. Madrigal.

DOST is the leader and coordinator of all the country’s scientific and technological services insuring that these are geared and used for the economic and social benefits of the people.

The President of CMDI Dr. Jaime Aristotle B. Alip is looking forward to this partnership because it can help the MEs of CARD MRI learn more and have better and improved products. He added that the government agency shares the same mission to improve the quality of lives of the Filipinos that is why CMDI collaborated with the DOST to achieve their mutual goal in empowering the Filipino MEs.

CMDI is one the member institutions of CARD MRI that supports the mission of the organization in empowering the poor Filipinos through provision of education and trainings offered to its clients and its family.
