CARD MRI Publishing House brings its pop-up event called Koa Kafe in Sta. Elena, Camarines Norte to spark meaningful conversations over a cup of coffee on August 26, 2022.

The pop-up event was held to bring books and other publications closer to the community. The book, “History of San Pablo: Reviewed, Rewritten, and Retold,” was the featured book during the event.

Apart from publications ranging from storybook for kids to travelogues to microfinance books, the participants actively joined games and fun activities such as charades and jumbled letters during the Koa Kafe. They can also enjoy the free cup of coffee, calamansi juice and indomie from Mga Likha ni Inay (MLNI), the marketing arm of CARD MRI.

“Our Koa Kafe has not only become a venue to promote our publications, but it has also become an instrument to support our clients. Most of our products are in collaboration with CARD MRI clients,” CARD Publishing President Marilyn M. Manila explained. She also added that this collaboration includes outsourcing of the printing of newspapers, books, and magazines and the production of Koa merchandise to CARD MRI clients with printing, school supplies, and tailoring businesses.

Aside from Camarines Norte, Koa Kafe has been to different provinces since its launch in March 2022. It has been to Zambales, Ilocos Norte, Masbate, Davao del Norte, and Laguna with a total of 634 visitors.

Koa Kafe, named after the publishing house’s official mascot “Koa the Kwago”, is set to fly to other provinces in the last two quarters of the year. “We are looking forward to bringing our publications to more communities in the country. Aside from CARD MRI clients, we will also invite nursery students for a storytelling session featuring ‘Lapis ni Anya’, a storybook which tells the importance of managing time wisely. As with CARD MRI, we ensure that even in information dissemination and education, no one gets left behind,” Manila concluded.

CARD Publishing, MLNI, and Hijos Tours are member-institutions of CARD Mutually Reinforcing Institutions, a group of organizations with the end-goal of ending poverty in the Philippines through financial, non-financial, and community development programs.
