CARD MRI Media Lakbay-Aral in Baguio City

A media briefing was held on October 21, 2022 to conclude a three-day Media Lakbay Aral hosted by CARD MRI in Baguio City.

CARD Mutually Reinforcing Institutions (CARD MRI) hosted a Media Lakbay Aral in Baguio City on October 19–21, 2022 participated by media practitioners from Bulacan, Tarlac, Manila, Laguna, and Oriental Mindoro. The three-day event was the fourth conducted this year.

The primary purpose of the event was for media practitioners to better understand what CARD MRI’s programs in microfinance, microinsurance and community development as means to reach its main goal of poverty eradication.

Participants of the said event include Glady Mabini (Radyo Natin Network); Donabel Mores (Radyo Natin-Pinamalayan); Jay Corpuz (Radyo Natin-Victoria); Carmela Estrope (NewsCORE); Lalaine Santos (TSO TV Online News); Theofel Santos (Radyo Veritas); Luisito Angeles (DWIZ 882 AM); Bonifacio Dacayanan (Figures and Facts News Weekly); Aida Tabamo (Ipahayag Newspaper); Vinson Concepcion (Philippine Information Agency); Robert Maico (Southpostr); and Annie Lyn Bico (DZJV 1458 CALABARZON/Light TV-Radio).

The media participants visited several institutions of CARD MRI in Benguet, such as CARD Bank Baguio Branch, CARD Bank La Trinidad Branch, CARD MBA Baguio Provincial Office, and CARD Inc. Baguio Unit. Through the office visit, the media participants were shown how the institutions operated and were enlightened about the products and services that they offered to their clients.

A heritage tour called “Hijos de las Montañas” facilitated by Hijos Tours, the travel and tour institution of CARD MRI, was also conducted for the participants. The tour includes visits to historical sites in Baguio including Burnham Park, the Baguio Museum, Camp John Hay, and The Mansion. All food and souvenir items offered in the tour were ethically sourced from microentrepeneur-clients of CARD MRI to support their enterprises.

To provide the media with a glimpse of what CARD MRI does, they visited its microfinance operations and observed in center meetings. Media participants also interviewed CARD Bank clients on the impact of the programs of CARD MRI.

A media briefing was held on the last day of the event to address all of the queries of media participants about CARD MRI. It was attended by CARD MRI representatives including Ronnie Fallega (CARD Bank Vice President for Operations); Jerlen Merdejia (CARD Bank Regional Director); Dieby Mae Garcia Cruz, Johnna Isla, and Zabdiel Adorna Masamoc (CARD Bank Area Managers); Ritchel Dacillo (CARD, Inc. Regional Director); Robert Urgino (CARD RBI Regional Director); Sherwyn Reyes (CARD RBI Area Manager);  Maria Cristina Payad (CARD MBA Provincial Manager); Leo Alcantara (CARD MBA Cluster Manager); Marilyn Manila (CARD Publishing House President); Cyrene Grace Lubigan (CARD Publishing Deputy Director); and Raffy Antes (Hijos Tours Deputy Director).
