Maagap Savers faced off the CARDEE’s Amazing Race

Amazing1Last November 15, 2014, 28 kids age seven to twelve, who were then split up to three teams, faced off in Amazing Race-style Hijos De San Pablo Junior Tour as part of their privilege of being the Top Maagap Savers. Parents and guardians of the children also participated in the race.

CARD Bank, Inc., together with CARD MRI Community Development Group, made the tour more suitable for kids by modeling the existing tour program to the American television show, Amazing Race.

The race challenged the participants to maximize their mental and physical skills and abilities while they learned about the heritage and culture of San Pablo from their tour guides, who were called “Hijos Master,” along the way. The end goal of the race was to be the first to head back to the Kapihan ni Inay at the head office of CARD MRI packed with new learnings and values from their new experience.

Each team started the race with a clue patterned to the famous online game application “4 pics 1 word” that would lead the teams to a particular destination. Destinations were set up around San Pablo City historical sites such as Sampaloc Lake, City Cathedral, Municipal Hall and Coconut Farm located at San Lucas 1. Team challenges included activities such as sampaloc eating challenge, coin challenge, scavenger hunt, cooking San Pablo’s authentic dishes like nilupak, ensaladang paco and kulawong talong and other challenges that tested their skills and cooperation.

There was also a short culminating activity at the end of the program. It provided the kids and their parents/guardians several tips on saving, budgeting and financial management. Limited edition badges were awarded to participants. The winning team was also awarded with Maagap Gift Cards.

CARDEE’s Amazing Race was not just a competition between the kids, but also a great bonding experience for the kids and their parents.
