Developing Financial Savvy Kids through CARDEEskwela

CE1

Twenty-two Maagap Savers attended CARDEEskwela in CARD MRI Development Institute (CMDI) in Brgy. Tranca, Bay, Laguna held on November 8 & 9, 2014.

The CARDEEskwela mainly focused on financial literacy and livelihood skills workshop. The participants enjoyed the way financial literacy was thought by Ms. Carmela Zaballa. It was creatively presented in mini lectures and expounded through individual worksheets and group dynamics. It enabled them to learn practical ways of saving, wise spending, and investing in simple, creative and enjoyable manner. It gave them opportunities to work in teams towards relevant goals, such as creating small venture, budgeting their own daily expenses and preparing to be ready in handling their own money.

On the other hand, the livelihood skills workshop helped them develop simple livelihood skills that may lead to a business venture even at an early age. The workshop heightened their ingenuity in creating products out of felt cloth.  The participants were eagerly challenged in making their own design and best output.

CARDEEskwela became worthwhile not only for the Maagap Savers participants but also for their parents/guardians who visited the workshop on the second day. Their parents witnessed how talented they are in creating crafts. They were also inspired with the message shared by our CARD Bank, Inc. Chairman – Dr. Jaime Aristotle B. Alip. He encouraged the parents/guardians to help their childen build a good financial habit to ensure a brighter future of their children.
